Over a thousand deaths from dengue fever in Brazil since the beginning of this year

Data shows that so far this year, the number of dengue fever deaths in Brazil has reached the third highest since the outbreak was recorded in 2000. Since records began, the year with the highest number of dengue fever deaths in Brazil was 2023, with 1094 dengue fever deaths throughout the year.

Despite the current high number of dengue fever cases in Brazil, the government said on the 2nd that the dengue fever epidemic in various states has passed its peak, and the epidemic in Akri, Amazon, San Espiritu, Goas and other regions is in a "steady decline" trend, with 12 other states in a "stable" trend. The Brazilian Ministry of Health emphasizes the need to remain vigilant about this disease.

According to a report from the Pan American Health Organization on March 28th, the Americas is likely to experience the most severe dengue fever season so far this year. Since the beginning of this year, over 3.5 million people in the region have been confirmed to have been infected with the dengue virus, three times higher than the same period last year. Among them, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay have the most severe dengue fever outbreaks.
